Day two(continued)
Back out to sea. This is part of an area called the Wrangell-Narrows off of Mitkof Island. At the northern end of the island is Petersburg.
Petersburg is a small fishing village populated by many
folks of Norwegian descent. The white barn-shaped building in the
center is the "Sons of Norway Hall", built in 1902.
Inside we were served a Norwegian-style dinner and treated to dancing by the Petersburg Leikarring Dancers.
Everyone got into the act! |
Some of the dancers in their embroidered costumes.
One of the dance leaders, Joyce Jenkins. |
The other dance leader, and music provider, Heidi Lee.
